Quality Assurance in Rail: VDI Standards Pave the Future

Quality requirements in the rail industry are reaching a new level: VDI Guideline 2645 is now also mandatory here. What was already known in the automotive industry now applies to all rail vehicle production.

Precision is the top priority
When it comes to safety, every single screw counts. The guideline describes procedures for process capability tests (PFU) for tightening torques of bolted connections with preload force.

The aim is to evaluate and document the quality capability of a fastening process under series production conditions.

In contrast to a machine capability test (MFU), the process capability test takes into account the human, material, method and environmental influence categories in addition to the machine influence.

Documentation as a challenge
The new directive requires complete documentation of quality capability. Modern companies rely on digital solutions due to the immense effort involved.

Digitalization as a game changer
Software-supported quality assurance systems automate the entire process. This not only saves time, but also minimizes error rates.

Investing in the future
The integration of digital systems is no longer an optional extra. If you want to remain competitive in the rail industry, you have to act. Modern quality assurance systems often pay for themselves in a short space of time thanks to greater efficiency and the avoidance of quality defects.

Our solutions help you to comply with this new mandatory directive.
