When storing data is not enough

In discussions with our customers, we notice this time and again: The terms "backup" and "archiving" are often confused. At first glance, they seem similar - but in practice, they perform completely different tasks. And it is precisely this misunderstanding that can have significant consequences.

A backup means that data is temporarily saved so that it can be quickly restored in an emergency. Archiving, on the other hand, ensures that data remains available in a structured form over the long term - often for years or even decades. Especially in industry, where production data, proof of quality and compliance documents play a central role, it is crucial to know the difference.

We have learned from many projects that it is not just about the availability of data, but also about its integrity, traceability and auditability. A backup alone is not enough to safeguard legal requirements or internal audit processes.

Technology is only part of the solution. Awareness of how we handle our data is just as important. We need to manage it strategically, structure it clearly and archive it securely. After all, the biggest challenge is often not the technology itself, but how we handle the information.

At CSP, we support companies with precisely this: we help them not only to store data securely, but also to archive it in a long-term and audit-proof manner. This includes structured storage, controlled access rights and compliance with legal requirements.

If you also want to secure your data reliably and for the long term, we will show you how you can combine backups and archiving in a sensible way. Together, we will create the basis for efficient, legally compliant and future-proof data management.
